co worker 3.0: code switch

in life i've realized there's two dominant personalities, effective for a work and home balance,

it's knowing the difference between,

"who you want to be" & "who you need to be"!

[personally], i'm polished, but i don't like to code switch,

[professionally] i'm balanced, so respect my results because i can get ignorant real quick...

this post, or conversation is for the experienced ninjas navigating the workforce, rebels tolerating salary slavery, and its fake family energy ..!.

i have a mental pause button,

i usually think before i speak, mostly,

consulting my demons silently because my tongue can come off disrespectful, yet truthful, don't sue me for being raw wit my feelings, observation and delivery....

"who do you need to be @ work"?

"who do you want to be @ work"?

some folks forget where they @, because they are too invested in the culture...

scene set up

let's start off with the beginning of the day,

as i walk into the building i rather go to my cubicle, do some breathing techniques before i deal with coworkers,

i need to decompress from the commute i just endured to get here,

nothing is perfect, would be nice tho but i'm a realist, we deal wit it!

as i walk in, the brown nosers start congregating round the water cooler,

the micro managers are buzzing like flies over shit, the energy already feels like a chance of drama & incompetency lol,

now i have to make a decision...

do i resort to "who i need to be" or "who i want to be"?

depends on the day,

polite or petty?

[shaking my head to rolls the dice]

brown noser: good morning! what a day to be alive!

[other brown nosers agree, head shaking smiles]

me: it's a nice day, ready to tackle the challenges,

bn: and we're going to do it as a team, right?

me: like every day except weekends

[crowd chuckles, that tickled their funny bone]

micro mgr: hey team! check your emails today? we have a sleuth of deets to go over in the meeting,

bn: absolutely, can't wait to brainstorm with the team,

me: [just a simple head nod] i did thnx

micro mgr: let's keep that energy all day team

[the bn group start clapping and giving high fives, i just walk away]

let's flip da script...

brown noser: good morning, what a day to be alive!

me: smh, too early for that shit [as i put a finger on my lips]

[quiet oohs from the brown-nosing group]

bn: it's never too early, lol

me: well today it is [giving them the evil side eye lol walking to my desk]

[micro manager walks up to the watering hole]

micro mgr: hey team!

me: [walking off] save that shit for the meeting

* more context to the "micro manager character", they're not management they just have ambitions of being a manager, lol...

the 1st scenario i chose to be "who i needed to be" in the office, political and polite,

the 2nd scenario is "who i wanna be", the villain yet not the bad guy just a lil petty...

this ain't a cohabiting thing, it's a coworker thing,

we come, we compete, we go the fuck home, and we repeat,

we can't choose our coworkers, just like we can't choose family,

however, that don't mean i gotta like y'all,

i just need to tolerate y'all assclowns for 40 hours a week, sounds depressing but a reality for millions of humans on plantations of salary slavery [for the love of moneyyy].

sometimes we unintentionally code switch to keep the peace and tranquility of the workflow,

everybody ain't smart enough to read the room, yet smart enough to handle intricate responsibilities of a conglomerate?

who's fucking whom & who's kissin who's ass?

peons in positions of power, lol, corporate life is a joke...

just my opinion, observation, to past experience!

which personality are you?

the brown nosers, micro managers or me?

this goes for any industry that creates opportunities for individuals to be coworkers, everybody ain't built for the "workforce",

the buffoonery politics, climbing coward ladders, hunger game retreats, pizza promotions, secret santa etc. etc.,

many employees just want to punch in, work, punch out, get paid respectfully, period,

so, they can enjoy the time they have left to bask in da fruits of their labor!

work life balance has become "emotional" to many,

anxiety attacks & other shit, they treat it like a relationship, like it's a family member, like a fucking pet they "trying" to nurture,

maybe take a step back and chill, it's not that serious...

its bizness, play your position, earn your stripes and have an escape plan, your expendable, all this reality tv shit got humans fucked up, lol,

this is a competition, and i'm just trying to make it to 5!

do you code switch?
